The Mental Journey of the Aspiring Baby Boomer Entrepreneur

I meet so many women who are approaching a point in their careers where they are thinking “There’s gotta be more than this.” When I ask them to explain, I undoubtedly hear comments such as:

· I want to be in control of my day

· This job no longer is fun

· I want to spend my time doing something I LIKE

· I could be doing much more

They don’t feel like they are contributing or creating value any longer. They’re no longer motivated to work on something for someone else. They want their own project or business where they are free to be successful on their own terms.

As I help them through their journeys, I have seen a very defined pattern emerge. I call it the Mindset Journey of the Aspiring Baby Boomer Entrepreneur. It’s a predictable roadmap of thoughts they go through. It starts with a realization of their current situation and ends with taking the leap into doing their own thing. It is a glorious path of thoughts and feelings that almost all of them share. Take a look at the map below. In what lane are you standing on this roadmap?

No doubt something on this map resonates with you. Which stage do you think you are currently standing? Regardless of what stage you are in, there are many things you can do to help guide you through. It’s time to open up to possibilities that let you live the life you crave. It’s one thing to see where you are on the map. It’s life-changing to figure out what to do next. Our free guide provides helpful suggestions, resources, and tools to help you consider what to do based on where you are in the journey. Your path may not lead to launching a business. It may lead you to finding the right organization, cause, project, or service that will light up your day and give huge value to others! Our guide will open your eyes to checking it all out. You can download it for free here.

If you remember one thing from this piece, let it be this: give yourself the gift of examining what is going on at this stage of your life and career, and be willing to consider if other opportunities will serve you (and others) better. Baby boomers bring immense experience and skills to any project. Why not bring your value to something that fulfills you? Why not spend your days working on endeavors that give you meaning and purpose and ENERGY!
